This beautiful miniature brass sextant actually moves and has two tiny mirrors. It measures 40mm x 45mm and is hung on a 27 inch solid brass chain.
A sextant is an instrument for determining the angle between the horizon and a celestial body, such as the Sun, the Moon, or a star. It is used in celestial navigation to determine latitude and longitude. The first sextant was produced by John Bird in 1759.
